Damage to GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) can range from minor scrapes to more serious structural issues. At Nautilus Marine Services, we carry out small, medium, and large GRP repairs using solid materials, proven methods, and a practical understanding of what works in the marine environment.
Whether it’s a gel coat gouge from a fender mishap or a section of delaminated laminate, we assess the damage properly and choose the right layup for the job. We have hands-on experience working with chopped strand mat, woven roving, and biaxial cloth, as well as core materials if the job calls for it.
We handle:
Cosmetic gel coat repairs
Impact damage and cracking
Delamination
Deck or hull reinforcement
Stringer and structural rebuilds
Every repair is properly prepped, rebuilt, and faired to ensure strength and a clean finish. We also colour-match gel coats where possible, though older boats may require a blend-in approach due to fading.
For repairs below the waterline, we can also apply specialised epoxy barrier coatings to restore long-term protection to the gel coat and underlying hull, helping guard against future moisture ingress and osmosis.
